The Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium (CAGC) is a partnership of public and private educational institutions seeking to collaboratively find effective strategies to close the achievement gaps in our schools. As a subgroup, African American females perform at some of the lowest levels of minority groups on measures of achievement. To that end, the CAGC has formed the African American Female Initiative (AAFI). The purpose of the African American Female Initiative is to support young women of African decent toward higher levels of academic performance in a K-12 setting. A main objective of the Initiative is to assist African American females in their persistence toward college readiness and completion.
The AAFI Summer Institute is held annually at Concordia University’s Mequon campus. Concordia University is the university partner for the Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium.
