In order to serve underserved student populations and their families, it is essential to build the professional capacity of teachers, administrators and school board members charged with leading equity efforts. The Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium annually sponsors high quality professional development opportunities to member school systems in the areas of equity, social justice, and inclusive instructional practices. The professional development offered by the Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium has included nationally-renowned authors and guest lectures all with the intent to expand the professional growth, perspective and awareness of educators working in consortium school systems.
The Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium host annual School Board Symposiums for governing board members of school systems in the consortium. The symposiums have the dual purpose of providing school board members with effective governing strategies to take back to their local board rooms and the opportunity to network with fellow school board members facing similar challenges of allocating appropriate resources and developing necessary policies to support equity work in consortium school systems.
The Closing the Achievement Gap Consortium High Education partner is Concordia University of Wisconsin. An added bonus with the Closing the Achievement Gap professional development opportunities is that valuable graduate credit is offered through Concordia University with successful completion of workshops, seminars and symposiums.
