Event Description: We want all of our math students to be strong thinkers and competent doers of mathematics. Join the Math Institute of Wisconsin for a professional learning series that will explore how to make this a reality in our classrooms. In our sessions teachers and other professionals working in CGAC member schools will have the opportunity to deepen their own understanding of key concepts in numeracy education at both the K-5 and 6-8 level, and understand the progression of these concepts in building students who are flexible and logical math thinkers who can tackle complex problems both within and outside of the math classroom. Participants will also learn a multitude of grade level appropriate strategies to take back to the classroom to build and improve students’ numeracy skills. Please note that while K-5 and 6-8 grade band sessions will focus on numeracy topics for that particular grade band, teachers from grade levels outside of the grade band are welcome to attend as well.
